Residual-Residual Haunting
Are often considered a photo in time or leftover energy from the past. Some type of horrific landmark in time playing itself over and over in a certain location i.e. battlegrounds. Some see apparitions, some feel energies and some hear sounds. There have been some theories that limestone deposits have some effect on Residual Hauntings as they have been found near active sites and limestone can hold electromagnetic charges.
Poltergeist
“Poltergeist” is a German word meaning “noisy spirit”. Current research indicates, however that Poltergeist activity may have nothing to do with ghosts or spirits. Since the activity seems to centre around an individual, it is believed that it is caused by the subconscious mind of the individual. It is in effect psychokinetic activity. The individual is often under emotional, psychological, physical stress or even going through puberty. Effects can include rapping’s on walls and floors, the physical movement of objects, effects on lights and other electrical appliances - even the manifestation of physical phenomena.

1. They died as a result of a traumatic event, murder, car accident etc.
2. They have unfinished business
3. The spirit may have died suddenly and not realised he or she died
4. The living loved ones are so distraught they cannot let go
5. The spirit is emotionally connected to their loved ones
6. They cannot rest due to an injustice done to them whilst they were alive
7. Fear of the other side or judgement
These ghosts are generally associated with physical activity like slamming, opening, closing, unlocking doors and windows and audible voices and sounds. A strong presence, a scent, or touch may be experienced. People rarely see a manifestation of the ghost in the form of an apparition or mist.
Portal-Portals
Portal hauntings are considered controversial as there is little known and the idea is mostly theory or speculation. Portals are thought to be doorways to another world or dimension in which entities travel through. It’s speculated that portals are not limited to one location, region or limited to sacred ground. Typically places that experience a wide array or different types of anomalous activity such as glowing balls of light, odd creatures, strange shapes or unexplained mists and fog are suspected to have a portal in which these energies are travelling back and forth.
